Verse of the Day 6/1

Verse of the Day 6/1

Revelation 22:20-21 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

I mentioned in a recent post how my wife and I both have expressed the Apostle John's feeling at the end of verse 20 "come, Lord Jesus, come". Through the pain and the trials in life a look forward to the coming of the Savior gives us hope, gives us something to focus on, something to ground us, and give us assurance of healing, restoration and peace.

The world and it's trials and challenges seems to come at us at a furious pace. Where we put our focus can have an impact on our spiritual and emotional health. I was reminded of the "picture" that we see when riding in a car and staring out the window of the passenger side watching the grass, trees and guardrails fly by. If you suffer from motion sickness, it won't take long for you to feel that sickness coming on. But if you focus on the horizon ahead, things seem to slow down and you have no such sick feeling. So it should be with us. We shouldn't concentrate and focus all of our attention on our circumstances but on the One who can deliver us in and through them.

The Bible calls us to wait for and wait on the Lord. But it is not a passive waiting, we are to eagerly wait for Him, to be preparing for His coming. A big part of that eagerly waiting is to keep our focus on Him through prayer and His Word.
Do you look forward to the Lord's return? Pastor Greg Laurie writes, "Half of all Americans today claim to be born again. Even more claim to believe in God. If you want to apply a real litmus test to your relationship with God, or lack thereof, then let's say, for the sake of a point, that we knew Jesus Christ was coming back exactly 15 minutes from now. How would that grab you? "

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

Blessings,
Mike
Revelation 22:18-21 New Living Translation (NLT)
18 And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person's share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.
20 He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon!"
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
21 May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's holy people.
