Luke 11:13 If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him." NLT
We've been considering how God is glorified in His works in answers to prayer, making us "fully alive" in the process.
As Christians we need to realize that He is not only answering prayers, but is sending His presence. When a tragedy strikes you or someone close to you it is natural to go to God for comfort. David Platt in "Radical" writes, "do you realize what God does? He doesn't give you comfort. Instead He gives you the Holy Spirit who is the Comforter. The Holy Spirit literally comes to dwell in you and puts the very comfort of Christ inside you as you walk through your pain."
Have you experienced this? Thank God I have, though perhaps I didn't think or realize it in this way.
Are you in need of comfort right now? A child won't accept words of comfort from just anybody, they'd rather have a parent's presence, along with the words. As a child of God why settle for words when you can experience His presence? Ask God for it.
Show me your glory, send down your presence,
I want to see your face, show me your glory,
Majesty shines about you, I can't go on without you Lord.- (Third Day - "Show Me Your Glory"
Luke 11:9-13
9 Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking (Matt 7:7-11) "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
9 Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking (Matt 7:7-11) "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?
12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" NKJV
