1 John 4:16 The Message (MSG) 13-16This is how we know we're living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He's given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we've seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God's Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we've embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God.
I can't remember a time when so many friends were battling so many illnesses, serious ones. It seems like my "prayer list" grows day by day. The response of some to their trials has been amazing. Their responses shows what "living by faith" means, "living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us" living life from his "very own spirit" through the joys and the pain. What an example and testimony they are to all around them, believer and unbeliever alike.
A good friend of mine's mom recently had serious complications after several surgeries. She ended up having to be put on a ventilator for a period of time. Thankfully, she was able to come off of it. Her first words after they took out the tube and she was able to speak was "God is good".
Another friend shared her response to her challenges in life, her own illness, one battling Leukemia, her mom's cancer, a brother in law with a serious infection, a friend's heartache. She said :
I can't be wife, teacher, curriculum specialist, nurse, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, program director, mentor. . .
I can't do EVERYTHING I am asking my body to do.

Only GOD can! Whew! Thank GOD HE promises that He will and He can!!! I am SO grateful!

I quoted Augustine a few days ago, his statement fits here as well. "God's glory is man fully alive." With Him in us, we can be fully alive when we're in the valley and remain so when we make it through.

13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
