Revelation 1:8 New Living Translation (NLT) 8 "I am the Alpha and the Omegathe beginning and the end," says the Lord God. "I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to comethe Almighty One."
In our High School study yesterday we reviewed the "I AM" statements in the book of John. This verse was one of the lead ins to that study.
As we head into Thanksgiving and towards Christmas, you will come across many people who think that the world revolves around them. Today's verse is a reminder that the world itself revolves because of Him, and that God in three persons, is the center of the universe. John 1;1-2 show us that God and His Word were there to bring the created universe into being. The cosmos and all therein is because of Him and operates according to His will, His plan.
I read the following quote in "Of First Importance" yesterday. It goes along well with what we studied yesterday and as we head into the Thanksgiving week and entrance into the season of Christmas. "Our lives are bracketed, or, boundaried, not by the decisions and actions of Caesar, not by the rise and fall of Rome, nor by the rise and fall of the United States. Our lives are boundaried by him, 'the first and the last.' Whatever else happens in our history and whatever else happens in my history, Jesus is there as the first word and Jesus is there as the last word. And Jesus is here in the middle with the Word that gives us life."
May this verse and Darrell Johnson's reminder that Jesus is right here in the middle of it all with "the Word that gives us life". May you experience share and spread more of this abundant life this week with family friends and others who need it.
In Christ,
Mike

John's Greeting to the Seven Churches
4 Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne; 5 and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. 6 He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
7 Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven.
And everyone will see him
even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
will mourn for him.
Yes! Amen!
