Luke 17:15-16 (NLT) 15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, "Praise God!" 16 He fell to the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.
All of us, in one form or another, have been healed by Jesus. It may be physical, emotional, or spiritual but no one who is a follower of Jesus could deny that He has brought healing into their lives and continues to do so.
You probably know this story how Jesus healed 10 men yet only one returned to give Him thanks. There are many lessons to be learned and take away from these verses and passage.
The Samaritan gives us a reminder that the Jews nor present day Christians corner the market on giving thanks. The lepers were outcasts, by Jesus' healing they would be restored to family and community. They would have a life again. Many Christians today would be put to shame in a similar position having received healing and restoration but not acknowledging that it came from God and returning thanks and praise. May it not be us.
As we approach Thanksgiving we will be doing some reflection on what God has done for us. May we truly give Him thanks and share what He has done for us with others. If we've been blessed we should be a blessing to others. In these next days with family, friends, and strangers may we give thanks, and may we find ways to help others so that they may have another reason to give thanks and praise God.
I'll close with the words to one of my favorite Thanksgiving songs, "Give Thanks".
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks unto the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son.
And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say,"I am rich"
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks.
In Christ,
Mike

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace NIV
11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
14 So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
17 So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" 19 And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well."
