Titus 2:13(AMP) Awaiting and looking for the [fulfillment, the realization of our] blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
Do you remember ordering something by mail order when you were a child and watching and waiting, day by day for it to arrive? I remember ordering a Sports Illustrated Baseball Game. Day by day I'd get home from school and ask to see if it had arrived. Apparently it got "lost in the mail" and it took months to arrive. Once it did arrive I spent hours and hours playing the game, though is still wonder if it was worth the wait.
Do we look towards heaven with the same degree of waiting and looking?
C. S. Lewis wrote, "A continual looking forward to the eternal world is not (as some modern people think) a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do."
Having gone through trials, struggles, challenges, whatever you want to call them in life, it makes all the difference in the world having the future hope in Christ. It helps us through those times now knowing that those blessed hopes will come true, hopes for restoration, in body, soul and spirit and more than these, His glorious appearing. This will not be for a period of time but for eternity. There will be no question that it was worth the wait.
Perhaps you remember singing this song as a child or teaching it to your children. Does it help remind you of your hope?
Heaven is a wonderful place,
Filled with glory and grace,
I want to see my Savior's face,
Because heaven is a wonderful place.
