Verse of the Day 9/13

 

Psalm 56:8  You have seen me tossing and turning through the night. You have collected all my tears and preserved them in your bottle! You have recorded every one in your book.  Living Bible (TLB)

 

The other day we were challenged by Peter to "cast all your anxieties" on the Lord because He cares for us.  If we fail to do this all too often we may find ourselves tossing and turning through the night, perhaps feeling that no one cares about us, no one truly knows our sorrows, worries and fears.  Today's verse should be another reason why we should cast those cares upon God, He knows of them and has recorded all of them.  He is not ignorant of them or ignoring them.

 

As humans, we tend to look upon and dwell on the shortcomings and faults of others.  We record wrongs that someone has committed against us or others.  Yet we seldom consider the difficulties, challenges and trials in the lives of those around us.  We read in Psalm 51 and in Isaiah 43 that God doesn't keep track of our sins and hold them against us, in fact He blots them out.  But He does remember, does take note and record what we've gone through and will go through.

 

The next time you find yourself tossing and turning, cast those anxieties on the Lord and recall from His Word some other verses that may help us, may see us through.  In the morning, may we realize that His mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22).  Great is His faithfulness.

 

God will see to it that you are not tested in any given day more than you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). He will work for you, so that "as [your] days, so shall [your] strength be" (Deuteronomy 33:25, KJV).

Every day will have no more trouble than you can bear; and every day will have mercies sufficient for that day's stress (Lamentations 3:22–23).

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
