If we look at our world and the turmoil that we see before us in the news every day, with nations "tottering" and "raging", it is hard not to see how God knows our situation. Many people don't know where to turn. This psalms is for those with troubled hearts, who wonder what this would is coming to.
As a child of the 60's and 70's i remember reading Hal Lindsey's "The Late Great Planet Earth" which was probably my first exposure to an in depth look at the end times. Later, many of us read Tim LaHaye's "Left Behind Series". With all that is going on in the middle east, for us as Christians, we should realize that the Lord's return may be soon indeed.
Yesterday I mentioned how my Pastor Bill lived his life with an urgency to share the gospel right up to the end of his life. I am sure that he was aware of what has been going on and wanted others to know Jesus and the God of Jacob as our fortress, our "refuge and strength" (Palm 46:1) in these troubled times.
Whether or not his return is soon, we should be prepared and we should be preparing others. Jesus felt the same way as conveyed in His final words in the book of Matthew. The message is to go, make disciples, inspired by the fact that He is with us just as we were reminded in today's verses that the Lord of hosts, of the angel armies is with us.
