Verse of the Day 9/3

Isaiah 40:10-11 Behold, the Lord God comes with might,
    and his arm rules for him;
behold, his reward is with him,
    and his recompense before him.
11
11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
  he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
    and gently lead those that are with young.  English Standard Version (ESV)

After finishing yesterday's post about God supplying our every need, the song "Oh to be Loved by Jesus" came to mind and stayed there for some time.  I couldn't help but think that Paul must have felt the same way as he tried to convey that message to his readers then and us today.  He was relating to that experience of God's presence in his life day by day and wanted others to share that experience, every day.

I also read today's verses in Isaiah 40.  It is a reminder that the same God who rules the universe, who has the power to do anything and everything that He desires; He is "ready to go into action" (The Message).  This God also offers the tender care of a shepherd, gently leading those under His care "hugging them as He carries them" (The Message).

Do you need such a hug today?

Oh to be loved by Jesus
Oh to be loved by Him
Oh to have joy and peace within
Oh to be loved by Him

He knows the names of my sorrows
He knows the names of my fears
Why should I let them bother me
For I know he is near

Oh to be loved by Jesus
Oh to be loved by Him  - Thad Cockrell

In Christ,
Mike

Isaiah 40:9-11The Message (MSG)

9-11 Climb a high mountain, Zion.
    You're the preacher of good news.
Raise your voice. Make it good and loud, Jerusalem.
    You're the preacher of good news.
    Speak loud and clear. Don't be timid!
Tell the cities of Judah,
    "Look! Your God!"
Look at him! God, the Master, comes in power,
    ready to go into action.
He is going to pay back his enemies
    and reward those who have loved him.
Like a shepherd, he will care for his flock,
    gathering the lambs in his arms,
Hugging them as he carries them,
    leading the nursing ewes to good pasture.
