Verse of the Day 5/7

Verse of the Day 5/7

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars."

In these days, the COVID pandemic has reduced travel drastically.  Highways are empty and thousands of flights are cancelled each day.  People just aren't traveling for work or to go and visit loved ones.  Today's verses are a reminder that these restrictions do not apply to God.  As the Creator of everything He can go anywhere and does so, searching out those whose hearts are "towards" Him to give us "strong support".  In other words, He'll find us where we are and will work for us.

The flip side is not a pretty picture.  Those who are not "towards" Him will face all kinds of conflict and they won't have the Lord to help them, to fight for them.  John Piper writes, "He's the great worker. He's the one with broad, burden-bearing shoulders. He's the strong one. And he is looking for ways to show it. This is what differentiates God from the so-called gods of the world: he works for us. Isaiah 64:4, "From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you [in other words this is his uniqueness], who acts for those who wait for him."

Do you need His "strong support" today?  Make sure that your heart is towards Him and He will find you and provide the support that you need.  We are foolish if we don't  go to Him.

Trust in Jesus
My great Deliverer
My strong Defender
The Son of God
I trust in Jesus
Blessed Redeemer
My Lord forever
The Holy One, the Holy One
There's nothing I can do on my own to find forgiveness
It's by His grace alone I trust in Jesus

2 Chronicles 16:7-10 New Living Translation (NLT)

At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa and told him, "Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram. Don't you remember what happened to the Ethiopians[a] and Libyans and their vast army, with all of their chariots and charioteers?[b] At that time you relied on the Lord, and he handed them over to you. The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war."

10 Asa became so angry with Hanani for saying this that he threw him into prison and put him in stocks. At that time Asa also began to oppress some of his people.
