Verse of the Day 8/13

Verse of the Day 8/13

Romans 11:33
New International Version

33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and  knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!

Today's verse came up yesterday in the read through the New Testament plan that I follow. It comes in a short passage that acts as a doxology, a closing of the doctrinal teaching of the book of Romans before chapter 12 begins the application.

The passage closes in verse 36 with "for of Him and to Him and through Him are all things".  The all things hearken back to Romans 8 where we read "all things work together for good" (v.28);  "how will He not….graciously give us all things" (v.32); and "in all these things we are more than conquerors" (v.37).

As Paul looked back at what he had just taught us in the first 11 chapters he stands back in wonder at the wisdom, knowledge and sovereignty of God.  As we look back on our lives we should be able to do the same thing in the "all things" in our lives.

Read the short passage below.   Look again at verse "all things" are from Him as the Creator of the universe; all things are through Him, He sovereignly provides for all of our needs; and to Him, He is the goal of where our lives are headed.    Perhaps they'll cause you to praise Him in song.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him, all creatures here below
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

We'll close with a verse that brings all "these things" together.

Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Blessings,

Mike

Romans 11:33-36
English Standard Version

33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

34 "For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?"
35 "Or who has given a gift to him
    that he might be repaid?"

36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
