Verse of the Day 5/27

Verse of the Day 5/27

2 Corinthians 5:7-8
English Standard Version

for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 4 and 5 deal with facing challenges and trials in life and focusing on what we have in Christ.  It is not an easy thing to do but we are called to live, to walk by faith in hope knowing that the glory of what lies ahead will far outweigh anything we have to deal with in life. (2 Cor. 4:16-17).

It is very encouraging to hear someone say "come Lord Jesus, come", in the face of the most difficult trials in life.  It is not a matter of giving up, far from it; it gives the strength to persevere in hope, trusting in Jesus day by day, being "of good courage".

I've been blessed to see this lived out in my life and hear those words often from my wife Jean, "come Lord Jesus, come".  She is a cancer warrior, she is a prayer warrior, and she lives daily walking by faith. We live by faith not by sight for the battle belongs to the Lord.

In heavenly armour we'll enter the land
The battle belongs to the Lord
No weapon that's fashioned against us shall stand
The battle belongs to the Lord

We sing glory and honor
Power and strength to the Lord
(repeat)

The power of darkness comes in like a flood
The battle belongs to the Lord
He's raised up a standard, the power of His blood
The battle belongs to the Lord

we sing glory and honor
power in strength to the lord. (Maranatha Music)

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

2 Corinthians 5:1-10
English Standard Version

Our Heavenly Dwelling

For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on[a]

we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
