Verse of the Day 12/5

Verse of the Day 12/5

Jude 24-25
English Standard Version

Doxology

24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

I recently spent about a month going verse by verse through the book of Jude in. monring devotions.  At the same time our BSF Group (Bible Study Fellowship has been going through the first several chapters of the book of Revelation.  In Revelation 6 this week we considered the coming "Day of the Lord", His return and what would lead up to it. We discussed that the day of the Lord would bring judgment on the world of unbelievers, but for believers, it would bring deliverance.  Deliverance from sin and it's penalty by the blood shed by the Lamb, Jesus for the remission of sin.

What caught my attention in relation to this in today's verses was the statement "to present you blameless".  We've all been to weddings where at the end of the ceremony the pastor brings the new couple and has them turn and face the audience and says "ladies and gentlemen, family and friends I now present to you Mr. and Mrs......  It is fitting for us to picture that here.  When our day comes Jesus will receive us and presesnt us before the Father and I believe the great cloud of witnesses "faultless before the throne" through the redemption of Jesus and the remission of our sins.

1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
  All other ground is sinking sand.
2
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Blessings,
Mike

Jude 17-25
English Standard Version

A Call to Persevere

17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They[a] said to you, "In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions." 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment[b] stained by the flesh.
