Verse of the Day 2/6

Verse of the Day 2/6

2 Corinthians 7:9-10   Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way. 10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.   New Living Translation (NLT)

Most of us will admit that there have been times in our lives where we have done or said something that has hurt someone deeply.  We realized at once that there was no taking it back and that "door" could not be closed.  Sometimes we can at least ask forgiveness; but in others; we may never have an opportunity to seek forgiveness before that persons, especially a friend or loved one may pass away.  Unconfessed, this can eat away at us, bring remorse and grieve us deeply.  We can carry this burden around with us for years or even for the rest of our lives.

Sometimes the problem is that others may not be aware of it and so we try to deny it.  But then we may ask "how can God heal what I deny or try to cover up"? How can we have a right relationship with God while we keep these things hidden in our hearts?  How can God pardon and forgive while we don't openly admit our sins (yes sins, not just mistakes)?  Satan would love to have us wallow in this and stay away from God.  But God does offer forgiveness, especially to the heart of one who turns back to Him because of that grief.

If you find yourself in that position, in that condition.  Realize that there is hope, there is healing,  and there grace and forgiveness.  Cry out to Jesus for it.

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right
There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
And love for the broken heart
And there is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus
Cry out to Jesus
When you're lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus                                                    (Cry Out to Jesus - Third Day)

2 Corinthians 7:8-12 English Standard Version (ESV)

For even if I made you grieve with my letter, I do not regret it—though I did regret it, for I see that that letter grieved you, though only for a while. As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us.

10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. 11 For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter. 12 So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.
