Verse of the Day 12/7
6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Light is a word that the Apostle John used often throughout His writings. One of his I Am statements in the Gospel of John is verse 8:12 where Jesus said "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life".
Light and darkness are opposites. If you've been in a completely dark room, you know what it is like. You've probably experienced instances where you literally could not see you hand in front of your face. But light, even a small one, dispels the darkness. If we are following Jesus and putting His principles to practice, we are "walking in the light".
This season, as we celebrate Christmas, lights will be everywhere, on trees, in bushes, on gutters and around door frames to name a few. They will turn dark homes and neighborhoods into a light show. Most of these lights are put up in celebration of Jesus who is the light of the world.

The Light of the world is Jesus!

2. No darkness have we who in Jesus abide;

We walk in the light when we follow our Guide!
The Light of the world is Jesus!
As we read the scriptures and sing carols with other believers this season, may we be reminded that we are to be walking in the light.

Walking in the Light
5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
