Verse of the Day 3/7
New International Version
1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
I recently posted from James 3:7-8 which had to do with controlling or taming the tongue, it came with a challenge to try to go 24 hours without saying an unkind word. In reading Psalm 15 yesterday morning in my devotions David shares the same sentiment speaking of "one who speaks the truth from their heart" and "whose tongue utters no slander" and "casts no slur on others". A person who controls his tongue goes a long way towards being on right standing with his fellow man and with God.
I posted verse 1 above, because David mentions "dwelling" in a tent and "living" on God's Holy mountain. The tent is a temporary dwelling and can be thought of as our time on earth. Living on God's holy mountain points towards eternity. We can look at is as the person who lives by the Spirit temper His speach while here on earth and then live with God for eternity with a blameless heart.
The verses and passages both point to the importance of the words that we speak and how we dwell with our "neighbors". If we are to love our neighbors as ourselves as Jesus calls us to do, it begins with how we speak to our neighbors.
Read the short psalm below and may we be among those who will do these things and "who will never be shaken".
Blessings,
Mike

New International VersionPsalm 15
A psalm of David.
1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.
