Verse of the Day 4/10
Psalm 18:30-31 New International Version
Psalm 18:30-31 New International Version
30 As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord's word is flawless;he shields all who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God?
Yesterday's post from Proverbs 30 about the word of God being "flawless" came from my daily reading in Proverbs. Today's verses just happened to come up in my reading in the Psalms and contained a similar description of God's word. But in addition to that, David pointed out that God's way is perfect and described God a shield and refuge and "the Rock".
It is remarkable, worthy of note how many different authors of the scripture, inspired by God, thought of Him in these terms and how important God's Word was for them in their daily life. His Word then and now was a source of wonder, a source of refuge, a source of strength in time of need as well as a source of praise and worship.
Take some time today to think of what God's Word His truth, means to you, His truth. Read the passage from Psalm 18 below or perhaps the complete Psalm. May He arm you with strength, train your hands, may He be your strength and shield and provide a broad path for your feet.
Reading this psalm reminded me of Paul's writing in Ephesians 6 about the "Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God".
Where do I go
When there's no body else to turn to
Who do I talk to
When no one wants to listen
Who do I lean on
When there's no foundation stable
I go to the Rock I know He's able
I go to the Rock
CHORUS:
I go to the Rock of my Salvation
I go to the Stone that the builders rejected
I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me
When the earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
When I need a shelter, When I need a friend,
I go to the Rock. (Aaron. Jeoffrey)
When there's no body else to turn to
Who do I talk to
When no one wants to listen
Who do I lean on
When there's no foundation stable
I go to the Rock I know He's able
I go to the Rock
CHORUS:
I go to the Rock of my Salvation
I go to the Stone that the builders rejected
I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me
When the earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
When I need a shelter, When I need a friend,
I go to the Rock. (Aaron. Jeoffrey)
Blessings,
Mike

Psalm 18:30-36New International Version
Psalm 18:30-36
New International Version
30 As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord's word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength
and keeps my way secure.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he causes me to stand on the heights.
34 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You make your saving help my shield,
and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.
36 You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.
