Verse of the Day 4/17

Verse of the Day 4/17

Matthew 28:5-7
New International Version

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

Happy Easter!  He is risen, He is risen indeed!  Many of you have probably spoken these words and heard these wonderful words already this morning and have sung hymns echoing the sentiment.  It is truly a joyous day for us as Christians.

One of our family traditions is to listen to the Glad Acappella CD whiich contains several songs which pertain to Easter; "The Easter Song"; "in the First Light" as well as "Be Ye Glad". One that spoke to me today was "Be Ye Glad".  It speaks of confused situations and restless remorse, but the song relates to us as it did to to the two "Mary's" in today's passage.  They came in sorrow but left in great joy with great news.

In these days of confused situations
In these nights of restless remorse,
When the heart and the soul of a nation
Lay wounded and cold as a corpse

From the grave of the innocent Adam
Comes a song bringing joy to the sad.
Oh your cry has been heard and the ransom
Has been paid up in full, be ye glad

Chorus:
Oh, be ye glad, oh, be ye glad.
Every debt that you've ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord.
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad

What hymns or songs come to your mind related to Easter?  "And this is love, not that I first loved you, and this is love that You have first loved me.  And you gave your life, one perfect sacrifice, and this is love, that you first loved me."

He is risen! He is risen indeed!

Blessings,
Mike

Matthew 28:1-10
New International Version

Jesus Has Risen

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."
