Verse of the Day 4/9

Verse of the Day 4/9

Proverbs 30:5-6
New International Version

"Every word of God is flawless;
    he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
    or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

There are many things that are graded and worth more if they are in better condition.  If you have looked for a diamond for a wedding ring you have probably found this out.  Collectable coins are worth far more if the are in "brilliant uncirculated" condition.  The same holds true for baseball cards, firearms and most other collectables.

Unlike these other items, God's Word is flawless, but it doesn't lose it's value when put to use.  In fact, if it is left on a shelf or in a dresser drawer and is not read, memorized and applied, it will not prove it's value to it.  Rather, we won't show proof of it's value.

The Word speaks of God's love for us and points to the Savior, Jesus Christ who became the living word.  They are the words of life.

The Word is living
The Word is light
The Word delights my soul
Preserves my life
Holy and hidden
Forever true
The perfect sacrifice
Our Lord...Jesus Christ

The Word is wisdom
The Word is true
The Word takes all that's old
And makes it new
When hearts are broken
He makes them whole
The One who paid the price
Our Lord...Jesus Christ.                 (The Word -Steve Green)

Blessings,
Mike

Sayings of Agur

30 The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh—an inspired utterance.

This man's utterance to Ithiel:

"I am weary, God,
    but I can prevail.[a]
Surely I am only a brute, not a man;
    I do not have human understanding.
I have not learned wisdom,
    nor have I attained to the knowledge of the Holy One.
Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
    Whose hands have gathered up the wind?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak?
    Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and what is the name of his son?
    Surely you know!

"Every word of God is flawless;
    he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
    or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
