Verse of the Day 9/16

Verse of the Day 9/16

Colossians 1:16-17
English Standard Version

16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Whenever I read "all things" in Bible verses it causes me to stop and take notice.  For me it goes back to Romans 8:28 and "all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose."  In this passage the words "all things are repeated 5 times".  God has created all things but He did not create like a watchmaker who made the watch winds it up and just let's it go. God created but He also "holds things together".  (v.17).

Some respond to God with indifference, pride and arrogance feeling that they are in control, they determine their course in life, and have the childish attitude of "I do it myself".

He holds all things together and reconciles all things to Himself.  He does the books, He knows all the intentions of our heart and only He can set things right.  He is the creator, sustainer and the only Redeemer in our world.

Blessings,
Mike

Colossians 1:15-20
English Standard Version

The Preeminence of Christ

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by[a]

him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
