Verse of the Day 9/29

Psalm 143:8-10

English Standard Version

8 Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,

    for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
    for to you I lift up my soul.

9 Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord!
    I have fled to you for refuge.[a]
10 Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me
    on level ground!

Today's verses came up in my daily reading in the Psalms. The first word of verse 6 reminded me of Paul's call in Colossians 3:16 to "let the Word of Christ dwll richly."  These verses are an Old Testament example from David living this out. In verse 6 (below) we see David stretching out his hands upwards to God, seeking Him, submitting to Him and praising Him in the verses that follow.

David wants to hear, to be reminded of God's "steadfast", immoveable, unchangeable, love.  He seeks His guidance and relief from troubles, He seeks direction through God's teaching.  He seeks the Spirit to dwell in him on level ground, much like the "narrwo way' that Jesus spoke about.  

What would our days look like if we sought the Lrod like this daily. When we do, He will lead us all the way,.

Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!

Oh, the fullness of His love!

May it be our song through endless ages, "Jesus led me all the way".

6 I stretch out my hands to you;
    my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah

7 Answer me quickly, O Lord!
    My spirit fails!
Hide not your face from me,
    lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
8 Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
    for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
    for to you I lift up my soul.

9 Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord!
    I have fled to you for refuge.
10 Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me

11 For your name's sake, O Lord, preserve my life!
    In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!
12 And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies,
    and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul,
    for I am your servant.
