Verse of the Day 10/14

Through the Bible - Isaiah 56-58, 1 Thessalonians 5

Good morning,
If you have followed the news at all in the last couple of days, I'm sure you would have heard and seen broadcasts about the rescue of the 33 Chilean minors who had been trapped half a mile underground for more than two months.  It was interesting to hear how help, in the form of equipment and technology, came from thousands of miles away from other countries including the United States.

For today's verse we'll go to the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy which speaks of the Lord's rescue of us.

Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (Amplified Bible)  There is none like God, O Jeshurun [Israel], Who rides through the heavens to your help and in His majestic glory through the skies.

27The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He drove the enemy before you and thrust them out, saying, Destroy!

For the first couple of weeks the minors were uncertain of their rescue.  It took time for word to reach them that help was on the way.  Their spirits were lifted knowing that they would soon be lifted, delivered from the depths.

Sometimes, we can be buried in the depths of despair from illness, injury or loss.  What  a comfort it can be to know that our Lord, the creator of the heavens and the earth will come to deliver us.  Waiting for Him is leaning on Him,"

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.
What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
  • Refrain:
    Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
    Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.
What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

"I have no strength of my own--the world, the flesh, and the Devil, are arrayed against me--so I commit myself into the care and keeping of my Lord Jesus. And what is the ground of my confidence? How do I know that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him? I know it because He is God Almighty--the King of kings and Lord of lords!"  - Arthur Pink

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace  NIV

 Deuteronomy 33:26 "There is no one like the God of Jeshurun,
      Who rides the heavens to help you,
      And in His excellency on the clouds.

 27 The eternal God is your refuge,
      And underneath are the everlasting arms;
      He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
      And will say, 'Destroy!'

 28 Then Israel shall dwell in safety,
      The fountain of Jacob alone,
      In a land of grain and new wine;
      His heavens shall also drop dew.

 29 Happy are you, O Israel!
      Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD,
      The shield of your help
      And the sword of your majesty!
      Your enemies shall submit to you,
      And you shall tread down their high places."  NKJV
