Verse of the Day 4/3

Deuteronomy 6:6-7And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  English Standard Version (ESV)

Yesterday our family celebrated the birth of a new grandson, John (Jack) Michael VonWachenfeldt born  to Jason and Kristen.  Our congratulations and prayers go out to our family.  Children and grandchildren are a great blessing from the Lord, they are truly precious gifts.

When I look at the world around us, the turmoil, unrest and uncertainty I am thankful that Jack will be surrounded by grandparents, parents and aunts and uncles that know the Lord and won't be shy about sharing their faith with this little one, who before we know it, will grow in the grace and knowledge of God.  Jack will be carrying on the VonWachenfeldt name but more importantly it is our hope and prayer that one day he will pass along the faith in the Name that is above all names, Jesus.

Our faith isn't an aspect or a component of our lives, it is the warp and woof, the building blocks to the fabric of our lives.  May we not hold back from passing it along to the next generation, not only in our personal family but among our church family and our community.  In doing  so we will make the world a better place for the next generation to grow up in.

May we do our best to get this faith that is inside of us "inside our children"  (The Message), those in our family, our church and our community.

Proverbs 22:6Train up a child in the way he should go;  even when he is old he will not depart from it.   English Standard Version (ESV)

Deuteronomy 6:5-9The Message (MSG)

Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got!

6-9 Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
