Verse of the Day 3/2

Verse of the Day 3/2
Matthew 10:30-31 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.  English Standard Version (ESV)
The context of today's verses is that we should not fear, not worry about every little thing down to what we are to wear and what we are to eat.  Sparrows or canaries for that matter, have little monetary value but God knows all about them, cares for them, and provides what they need.  How much time is wasted how much sleep is lost worrying about what are really insignificant things?
As a person who is follically chlallenged (I don't know if that is even a word) I have to chuckle every time I read these verses.  I have much less hair than I did decades ago and as I lose more I cut it shorter, stopping just short of shaving my head.  It is what it is, no "comb overs" for me, regardless what we do, God knows the exact number.  And for those you who don't have that trouble but perhaps dye your hair, He knows your true color as well.  There is no fooling Him.
David Jeremiah writes, "Throughout Scripture, the people of God are reminded, "Do not be afraid." When they come face-to-face with God and His glory: "Do not be afraid." When Peter walks on water: "Do not be afraid." When loved ones die: "Do not be afraid." When all you have is five loaves and two fish: "Do not be afraid."  …..This simple phrase is God's comfort and invitation to us. We may not have the confidence, skills, or resources needed for our situation, but God does. Jesus invites us to rest, knowing He is God. His peace is ever-present. He delights in our requests for more of Him. It is not about ignoring feelings of fear, but about focusing on God's love, power and provision. As we do, our faith grows as we see God working in the midst of our circumstances."
I don't worry about my hair any more but there are still way too many things that I fail to hand over to God and trust to Him.  As you spend time in God's Word, take note of His promises as they come up, and as the hymn goes, "stand on them" .  Thank Him, give Him praise for each one that you find.  Let them be of assurance to you that He values you and never gives up on you.  As you do so faith will replace your fears.
1.    Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
2.    Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List'ning every moment to the Spirit's call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
Blessings,
Mike

Matthew 10:30-31The Message (MSG)
Forget About Yourself
29-31 "What's the price of a pet canary? Some loose change, right? And God cares what happens to it even more than you do. He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don't be intimidated by all this bully talk. You're worth more than a million canaries.
