Verse of the Day 2/19

Verse of the Dayb 2/19

Ephesians 2:13-14
New Life Version

13 But now you belong to Christ Jesus. At one time you were far away from God. Now you have been brought close to Him. Christ did this for you when He gave His blood on the cross. 14 We have peace because of Christ. He has made the Jews and those who are not Jews one people. He broke down the wall that divided them.

Many of us have probably had parents or parents of friends that expressed uncertrainty in their faith as the end of life here approached.  It is hard to witness, but if we have knowledge of their faith we can enourage them with verses like today's that offer that peace that they long for.  Just think of that statement that begins this verse in the New Life Version, "now you belong to Jesus Christ".  You can encourage them that, that"now" began the moment God called you and you received Him as your Savior.  It has continued through your life and  will apply to you when you die and you pass into eternity for a new lif in Christ.

You've probably noticed how often I quote hymns that relate to what I post.  It is because of all those hymns I sang in church and heard my mom practicing week in and week out on the piano preparing for church services as a child. Many of them are directly from scripture and help reinforce what we believe.  I believe that they played over and over in my mom's later years as she continued to play those hymns from memory on the piano right up to the time of her passing.

If you know of someone that is struggling with fears, even after years of believing, remind them that they belong to Jesus, not for the years of time alone but for eternity,

Jesus, my Lord will love me forever,
From Him no pow'r of evil can sever,
He gave His life to ransom my soul;
Now I belong to Him;

Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity.

Nothing can separate us from God's love.

Romans 8:38-39
New International Version

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 2:11-22
New International Version

Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
