Verse of the Day 1/16

Verse of the Day 1/16

Isaiah 32:1-2
English Standard Version

32 Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,
    and princes will rule in justice.
Each will be like a hiding place from the wind,
    a shelter from the storm,
like streams of water in a dry place,
    like the shade of a great rock in a weary land.

For today's verse we'll take a break from Matthew and turn to the book of Isaiah.  Yesterday we considered how we are to "build our house onn the rock".  Our men's Bible study group covered this passage this morning and I thought. that it went well with yesterday's post.

In a time when the nation had grown complacent and did not look to God, the prophet spoke of a coming time, in about a year, when society would be turned upside down.  He was trying to wake them up to turn to the only one who could bring peace, shelter,shade, living water to meet their needs.

The verses point to the coming King, Jesus and His reign and the princes are the Apostles and those saints who will rule with Him in a future day of righteousness.  In the meantime we must not be complacent, but look to HIm.  We don't know when storms may arise that will change our landscape, but we can be prepared by trusting in Him now knowing He will be with us as our shelter in the time of storm.

The Lord's our Rock, in him we hide,
A shelter in the time of storm;
Secure whatever ill betide,
A shelter in the time of storm.

Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A weary land, a weary land,
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defense by night,
A shelter in the time of storm;
No fears alarm, no foes affright,
A shelter in the time of storm.

The raging storms may round us beat,
A shelter in the time of storm;
We'll never leave our safe retreat,
A shelter in the time of storm.

O Rock Divine, O Refuge dear,
A shelter in the time of storm;
Be thou our helper ever near,
A shelter in the time of storm.

Blessings,
Mike

Isaiah 32:1-3
English Standard Version

A King Will Reign in Righteousness

32 Behold, a king will reign in righteousness,
    and princes will rule in justice.
Each will be like a hiding place from the wind,
    a shelter from the storm,
like streams of water in a dry place,
    like the shade of a great rock in a weary land.
Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed,
    and the ears of those who hear will give attention.
