Verse of the Day 9/4

Romans 10:12-13 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."   New International Version (NIV)

You have probably heard someone say that "it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you have faith".  In today's verses Paul has a different message to tell, one that sets the record straight.  Basically, he is saying that it doesn't matter who you are, as long as you call on Jesus, put your faith in Him, you will be saved.  Nationalities, gender, political parties don't matter but it makes all the difference in the universe as to where your faith is placed.

John MacArthur writes that this expression, "calls on the name" - "does not refer to some desperate cry to just any deity but to the one true God as he has revealed  himself - a revelation which now includes recognition of Jesus as Lord and of the One who raised Jesus up fron the dead."

Jesus conquered death and rose victorious.  He can and will do the same for us if we call on Him, and put our faith and trust in Him.  We call on One who is mighty to save.

Isaiah 63:1  Who is this who comes from Edom,
    from the city of Bozrah,
    with his clothing stained red?
Who is this in royal robes,
    marching in his great strength?
"It is I, the Lord, announcing your salvation!
It is I, the Lord, who has the power to save!"  New Living Translation (NLT)

Blessings,
Mike

Romans 10:12-15

New International Version (NIV)
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
