Verse of the Day 1/8

Matthew 5:18  For I assure you: Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass from the law until all things are accomplished.  Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Through the ages right up to today, people have been trying to get rid of the Bible, the Word of God.  Governments have banned it, tried destroy all copies of it but have failed.  Many have tried to get rid of it by saying it is outdated and irrelevant in our modern culture, but they all have and will fail.  The big question for each of us is - what do we do with the Bible, God's Word?  How important is it to us?  Is it a first priority, is it a first point of reference for guidance, for comfort, for hope?

From the beginning of time, going back to Genesis and creation, God has had a plan for this world and He has had a plan for His Word and it will accomplish His purposes.  Study it, learn it, keep it deep in your heart, give it priority.  As The Message says in verse 19 don't "trivialize" it because in doing so you are only trivializing yourself.

Governments, rulers, religions and self help plans will come and go but the Bible, the Word of God will endure forever, working and accomplishing God's purposes.  Those who find, discover what the Bible says to him and follow it will "really live". (Prov. 4:22 The Message).

Prov 4:20-22  Dear friend, listen well to my words;
tune your ears to my voice.
Keep my message in plain view at all times.
Concentrate! Learn it by heart!
Those who discover these words live, really live;  The Message

In Christ,
Mike

Matthew 5:17-20

The Message (MSG)

Completing God's Law

17-18 "Don't suppose for a minute that I have come to demolish the Scriptures—either God's Law or the Prophets. I'm not here to demolish but to complete. I am going to put it all together, pull it all together in a vast panorama. God's Law is more real and lasting than the stars in the sky and the ground at your feet. Long after stars burn out and earth wears out, God's Law will be alive and working.

19-20 "Trivialize even the smallest item in God's Law and you will only have trivialized yourself. But take it seriously, show the way for others, and you will find honor in the kingdom. Unless you do far better than the Pharisees in the matters of right living, you won't know the first thing about entering the kingdom.
