Verse of the Day 8/13

1 Chronicles 29:11  Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. English Standard Version

A week ago I was enjoying the beauty of God's creation in Yosemite National Park.  I loved the views, the majestic mountains, the lakes, waterfalls, sequoias and the deep blue skies.  But it was not all or anyone of those things that I was impressed with.  It all, they all brought my mind to our God, the Creator of all of this.

Today's verse catches the essence of this and should help the Christian realize that whatever brings them joy in life, whether it be nature, animals or the beauty of a little baby they should all remind us of the majesty of God.  It is He that deserves our worship.

I'm reminded of the chorus written by Jack Hayford, Majesty:

Majesty, worship his majesty;
Unto Jesus be all glory, honor, and praise.
Majesty, kingdom authority,
Flow from his throne unto his own, his anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus, the King.
Majesty, worship his majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.

"Lord, take me to my knees this morning in worship. Then let me go to share with the world, or at least with anyone with whom I might have meaningful contact, a great and majestic God Who deserves their worship. Amen."  A. W. Tozer

1 Chronicles 29:11-13The Message (MSG)

10-13 David blessed God in full view of the entire congregation:

Blessed are you, God of Israel, our father
    from of old and forever.
To you, O God, belong the greatness and the might,
    the glory, the victory, the majesty, the splendor;
Yes! Everything in heaven, everything on earth;
    the kingdom all yours! You've raised yourself high over all.
Riches and glory come from you,
    you're ruler over all;
You hold strength and power in the palm of your hand
    to build up and strengthen all.
And here we are, O God, our God, giving thanks to you,
    praising your splendid Name.
