Verse of the Day 8/11

Verse of the Day 8/11

Ephesians 6:19
Holman Christian Standard Bible

19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.

Today's verse is another one that was on prominent display at the Billy Graham library.  It points to the heart of an evangelist, these were the words of Paul but Billy Graham shared the same sentiments and he actively put them into practice.

It is important also to put this verse into the context of the passage. The verse comes at the end of the passage on putting on "the full armor of God" in Ephesians chapter 6.  The soldier has all of the components of his armor available to him but he must choose to put it on as he heads out for the day.  The soldier doesn't always know when he will face a battle so he puts it on every day.  How about us?

Things may be going well and we may head out thinking that we can head out day by day without preparing for the day.  But life will teach us that most battles come unexpectedly and If we are not prepared we may not respond, we may not engage, we may cower in fear when faced.

One other thing to keep in mind is that Paul and Billy Graham enlisted the help of others to pray for them.  It was also their announcement that they were going to engage with whomever they had the opportunity to share the gospel with.

Go back to the beginning of the passage and may these words give you courage today to put on that armor, "be strong in the Lord and the strength of His might.  If you know someone that is praying this prayer, a good response would be:

Be bold, be strong For the Lord your God is with you Be bold, be strong For the Lord your God is with you I am not afraid I am not dismayed Because I'm walking in faith and victory Come on and walk in faith and victory For the Lord your God is with you (Be Bold, Be Strong- Morris Chapman)

Blessings,

Mike

Ephesians 6:10-19
English Standard Version

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
