Verse of the Day 8/6

Verse of the Day 8/6

Psalm 121:5-6
New King James Version

 The Lord is your keeper;

The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

Today's verses came up in my daily reading in the Psalms yesterday.  I was reminded of the verses as my wife Jean and I went for a walk yesterday around mid day.  The sun in North Carolina is warm, actually hot, in August and as we were walking we zig zagged along the street going from side to side whenever we were able to get a few feet of shade.

Many have probably seen commercials for a well known awning manufacturer whose advertisement focuses on it being "20 degrees cooler" underneath there awning which provides shade from the summer sun.  While the air temperature may not actually be 20 degrees cooler, it sure feels like it.  One thing for sure is that the shade feels good, it does feel refreshing.

As we walk through this life we will feel the heat or the droughts of life at times and feel like we need some relief. Like the shade of the trees along the road or the awning on a patio, it is not far away, but we need to move towards it, under it before we will feel relief from the sun.  So it is with God.  He is never far from us, in fact He tells us that He is always near.  He's the shade at your right hand, right beside you.  What we have to do is move towards Him.  The best way of doing so is to be in His Word and in prayer.  You'll likely feel the times of refreshing begin.

If you are feeling the heat, turn to the Lord to be refreshed, He's right there beside you.

Blessings,

Mike

 Psalm 121

New King James Version

God the Help of Those Who Seek Him

A Song of Ascents.

121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to [a]be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your [b]keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall [c]preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve[d] your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
