Verse of the Day 5/2

Ephesians 6:18-19  Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.   Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Today has been declared as a national day of prayer.  People will be taking time out at various points of the day to pray for their church, their country and for the spread  of Christ's kingdom and His love all over the world.  They will be praying beyond their own interests to well being of others.

Mark Batterson  in "Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge" , writes, "Sometimes the purpose of prayer is to get us out of circumstances, but more often than not, the purpose of prayer is to get us through them.  I'm certainly not suggesting we shouldn't pray deliverance prayers, but there are times we need to pray prevailing prayers.  We need to ask God to give us the grace to sustain, the strength to stand firm, and the willpower to keep keeping on....  There is a big difference between praying away and praying through."

In the context of Ephesians 6 and the full armor of God, we've considered that in standing on the promises of God's Word, we are putting on the armor, part of which is praying with perseverance for our brothers and sisters in Christ while asking them to pray for us, to get us through and lead us on, to keep keeping on.

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 6:17-19

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

17 Take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit,
which is God's word.

18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
