Verse of the Day 6/5

Verse of the Day 6/5

John 14:27
New King James Version

27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Today's verse came up in my read through the New Testament plan.  I needed to read and dwell on it a while.  It has been a little over a week since my wife Jean went to be with the Lord.  I felt that life wasn't worth the living without her, yet I knew that I needed to be here if for nothing other than my son Jeff.  It has been tough, but the Lord will see me through.  The verse and the chapter have been important to me, a go to place in times of trouble beginning with my son Jeff's accident at the age of 16 which left him with a traumatic brain injury.

What caught my attention this morning as I read John 14 were the following verses:

John 14:19-20
New King James Version

Indwelling of the Father and the Son

19 b Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

Because He lives, Jean is living again in heaven where I'll meet her and have that place that He is preparing for us John 14:1-2. My heart still aches and it will continue to. But the Helper is here with me, He will guide me and with His help, I can face tomorrow.

God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died, to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives

CHORUS:
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

VERSE 2:
How sweet to hold a newborn Baby
And feel the pride and joy He gives
But greater still the calm assurance
This Child can face uncertain days because He lives.  (Bill Gaither)

CHORUS:
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

VERSE 3:
And then one day, I'll cross the river
I'll fight life's final war with pain
And then as death gives way to victory
I'll see the lights of glory
And I'll know He lives

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

John 14:15-27
New King James Version

Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 "If you love Me, [a]keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [b]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Indwelling of the Father and the Son

19 "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and [c]manifest Myself to him."

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"

23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

The Gift of His Peace

25 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the [d]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
