Verse of the Day 6/8

Verse of the Day 6/8

John 17:24
New International Version

24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

My wife Jean and I used to like to take walks together.  We used to do 3 miles in about 45 minutes, as we walked, we talked, probably more than any other times durning the day.  As her cancer progressed that rate slowed more and more until she could no longer do it.

People often ask why God seems to take some people too early, while still in their "prime". One possible reason is mentioned in today's prayer to the Father offered by Jesus. He wants them to be with Him, where He is and see His glory,  As Jeans cancer progressed she drew closer and closer to Him and the things of earth became "strangely dim" as the song goes. Whenever I read this verse now I will thiink of Jesus, I will think of Jean walking with Jesus, seeing His glory, praising her Savior all the day long.

  1. I am weak, but Thou art strong;
    Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
    I'll be satisfied as long
    As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
    • Refrain:
      Just a closer walk with Thee,
      Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
      Daily walking close to Thee,
      Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
  2. Through this world of toil and snares,
    If I falter, Lord, who cares?
    Who with me my burden shares?
    None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
  3. When my feeble life is o'er,
    Time for me will be no more;
    Guide me gently, safely o'er
    To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

One day I'll join them on that daily walk in heaven.

Blessings,
Mike

John 17:20-26
New International Version

Jesus Prays for All Believers

20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

25 "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you[a] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
