Verse of the Day 6/7
Philippians 4:12-13English Standard Version
Philippians 4:12-13
English Standard Version
12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
The other night I had a hard time sleeping and I pulled out my phone to look up a verse. When I opened my study Bible app on the phone, it was locked up, it wouldn't move from the opening screen. I was a little frustrated. Then I read the passage that it was "locked on". It contained these verses, verses that I needed to hear and take hold of.
Verse 13 is quoted quite often and mostly out of context, People use it for trying to achieve goals in their lives, something like, "if you put your mind to it, with the Lord's help you can be ___________ . It can be anything from a starting position on a sports team or becoming president. But in just backing up and reading verse 12, it is talking about facing the challenges and trials, as well as the good things in life knowing that it all flows from God. I like to think of it as I can face all things, I can stand through him who gives me strength.
God has proven this time and time again over the course of my life and He will do so now. I needed to be reminded of it that night and it took a "locked screen" for me to lock in on it. Thank you Lord.
I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
[Chorus]
'Cause all my life you have been faithful
And all my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
[Verse 2]
I love Your voice
You have lead me through the fire
In darkest nights
You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God (Hey)
[Chorus]
'Cause all my life you have been faithful (Oh, yes, you have)
And all my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
[Chorus]
'Cause all my life you have been faithful
And all my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
[Verse 2]
I love Your voice
You have lead me through the fire
In darkest nights
You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God (Hey)
[Chorus]
'Cause all my life you have been faithful (Oh, yes, you have)
And all my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
