Verse of the Day 6/9

Verse of the Day 6/9

Psalm 103:11-12
New International Version

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

As I was having my morning devotions this morning on my back porch, the sun was showing through the trees and a new day was dawning, I thought of the song "Bless the Lord Oh My Soul".

The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

[Chorus]
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

[Verse 2]
You're rich in love and You're slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find. (10,000 Reasons - Matt Redman

One thing that has remained a constant through Jean's illness and her passing was my quiet time.  I'm an early riser, Jean was not.  I would always get up early and enjoy my coffee with God's Word and devotionals either in my recliner or the back porch (weather permitting).  So, it is the time of day where I am comfortable on my own.  He speaks peace to me in the mornings will the billows continue to roll through the day.

What I need help with and what I need prayer for is the last line of the first verse of the song, 'let me be singing when the evening comes".  That's where today's verses come in.  It is realizing in my inmost being that His love and  all of the benefits of knowing Him far outweigh life's trials and challenges, overwhelming though they seem to be at times in my life (the pit, see below).  I've felt HIs love and compassion through friends and family who have lifted me up and I'm looking forward to being satisfied with the good things He will provide and the renewed strength that only He can bring.

Psalm 103:4-5
New International Version

who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Blessings,
Mike

Psalm 103:1-18
New International Version

Psalm 103

Of David.

Praise the Lord, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

The Lord works righteousness
    and justice for all the oppressed.

He made known his ways to Moses,
    his deeds to the people of Israel:
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
    slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
    or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
    he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
    and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
    the Lord's love is with those who fear him,
    and his righteousness with their children's children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
    and remember to obey his precepts.
