Verse of the Day - weekend 4/6

Through the Bible - Judges 18 - Ruth 2, Luke 11:1-12:3

Good morning,
A friend from the church that I grew up in sent a note to me about the hymn used earlier in the week and how it brought back memories. This sent me to an old hymn book looking up some of those old songs. I remember singing many hymns that were written by Fanny Crosby.
One of them was "To God Be the Glory"
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.
Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truely believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

For today's verse we'll go to Galations 1:

Gal 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. NKJV

The Greek word for "age" in this passage doesn't refer to a period of time but to an order system, in this case the world system.

Praise God this weekend that He offers this deliverance from the "world system" to all who come to Him in faith. In this present time as in the first century, isn't that what we need, "grace" and "peace" to face the challenges day by day. It's how we can live a life where we will say "to God be the glory" for the great things He has done and continues to do.

In Christ,

Mike

Gal 1:1-11

1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), 2 and all the brethren who are with me,

To the churches of Galatia:

3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Only One Gospel

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

NKJV
