Verse of the Day weekend 5/8

Through the Bible -  Numbers 29-31, Matthew 3

Good morning,
For this weekend's verse we'll continue in our look at the beatitudes in Revelation.  Today's verse is one that brings comfort and peace to those who have lost a loved one, giving us confidence that if they are in Christ, their will be a resurrection.  Death has know power and they will reign with Him.

 Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ,   NKJV

The verse is also a sobering one.  It refers to a second death, indicating that there will be a judgment.  John MacArthur writes, "those who die in the Lord are blessed with the privilege of entering His kingdom.  The first death is only physical, the second is spiritual and eternal."  The second death is eternal separation from God.

Fortunately, those who know and love the Lord, hang there hopes on the Lord and find confidence in His Word.

Read the following words from Charles Wesley's hymn " I Know that My Redeemer Lives".

Jesus, I hang upon Thy Word;
I steadfastly believe
Thou wilt return and claim me, Lord
And to Thyself receive,

Joyful in hope, my spirit soars
To meet Thee from above,
Thy goodness thankfully adores;
And sure I taste Thy love.

Thy love I soon expect to find,
In all its depth and height;
To comprehend the eternal mind,
And grasp the Infinite.

The Infinite, the Everlasting God.

Blessings,
Mike

Rev 20:4-6
4 The Saints Reign with Christ 1000 Years And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
NKJV
