Verse of the Day 8/11

Through the Bible - Psalms 81-83, 1 Peter 1

Over the past couple of days we've seen where Peter, John and Paul prayed for boldness.  For today's verse we'll go to the end of the book of Acts and the last words about the apostle Paul in this book.

Acts 28:30-31 (HCSB) Then he stayed two whole years in his own rented house. And he welcomed all who visited him, 31 proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with full boldness and without hindrance.

There may be times in our lives where we "rise to the occasion", where we may pray for and show boldness in our faith.  Some may feel proud of it and sort of pat themselves on the back for these moments or occasional boldness.  What we see reflected in the lives of the apostles in general and here in Paul specifically, is that having this boldness became there way of life.  We see here that Paul had a "welcoming" boldness.  He showed hospitality and wouldn't turn people away but would not hold back from preaching the whole, full, counsel of God.  He did this in all "seasons", times of freedom, times of persecution and times of imprisonment.

It should be a lesson to us.  Our faith is to be our way of life and boldness about our faith should be part of that life.  I am speaking to myself as much as anyone else.

The HCSB uses the words "full boldness".  It was complete, not lacking anything, it couldn't be used up, couldn't be put on a shelf, and couldn't be hindered.  There was no retirement from it for Paul or the disciples.

May we have boldness in our faith in all seasons of life.  May the door always be open in our life to share our faith.

Acts 28:30-31  The Message (MSG)  Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open.

Blessings,
Mike
