Verse of the Day - weekend 9/11

Verse of the Day

Hebrews 13:7 English Standard Version (ESV) Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

We all remember where we were ten years ago today.  In one way or another it impacted and changed the lives of each and every one of us.  We realized that we were a lot more vulnerable in this world than we ever knew.

For this weekend's verse, I thought that we, as Christians, should also remember those in our lives, especially our pastor's, whose teaching and whose lives have impacted us in building our faith.  Consider today where you might be without their teaching without their influence.  Our faith in God goes beyond, it can, and will endure beyond anything that this world can throw at us.

Consider three things that are outlined as the duties of a pastor.  They are to lead us, to teach us the word of God, and are to set an example, a pattern for others to imitate their faith.  For those of us who are parents, we should be doing the same in our households.  If we're "empty nesters" may we encourage our children to do the same in theirs.

As I look back in my life, from childhood to today, each of my pastors have helped to shape my faith in one way or another.  I am thankful for them and for their love for God.

Take some time to day to think of the pastors who have influenced your faith.  Thank the Lord for them.  Consider sending them a note, e-mail, or Facebook post expressing you thanks.

In Christ,
Mike

Through the Bible - Judges 9-12, John 4

Hebrews 13:5-9

English Standard Version (ESV)

5Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6So we can confidently say,

    "The Lord is my helper;
    I will not fear;
what can man do to me?"

 7Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.
