Verse of the Day 11/11

Deut 33:27 (NLT)  The eternal God is your refuge,
and his everlasting arms are under you.
He drives out the enemy before you;
he cries out, 'Destroy them!'

I recently downloaded Spurgeon's classic "Morning and Evening" devotional onto my iPad.  Today's devotional was on Deuteronomy 33:27.  It is a fitting verse for many who themselves or have family and friends going through life's greatest challenges.
Spurgeon knows of the reality of the situation and points his readers to the One to whom they should turn.  "The Christian sometimes sinks very deeply in sore trial from without. Every earthly prop is cut away. What then? Still underneath him are "the everlasting arms." He cannot fall so deep in distress and affliction but what the covenant grace of an ever-faithful God will still encircle him. The Christian may be sinking under trouble from within through fierce conflict, but even then he cannot be brought so low as to be beyond the reach of the "everlasting arms"—they are underneath him; and, while thus sustained, all Satan's efforts to harm him avail nothing.

This assurance of support is a comfort to any weary but earnest worker in the service of God. It implies a promise of strength for each day, grace for each need, and power for each duty. "

If you or a friend are very deep in a trial right now, seek and may He provide strength, grace, and power for the day's needs and duties.  For me hymns have always been an encouragement and reminder of His presence.  Read or sing the words to "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" may they encourage you or spur you on to encourage someone else.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

In Christ,
Mike

Deut 33:26-29 New Living Translation

26 "There is no one like the God of Israel.
He rides across the heavens to help you,
across the skies in majestic splendor.
27 The eternal God is your refuge,
and his everlasting arms are under you.
He drives out the enemy before you;
he cries out, 'Destroy them!'
28 So Israel will live in safety,
prosperous Jacob in security,
in a land of grain and new wine,
while the heavens drop down dew.
29 How blessed you are, O Israel!
Who else is like you, a people saved by the Lord?
He is your protecting shield
and your triumphant sword!
