Verse of the Day 9/2

Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also who have heard the Word of Truth, the glad tidings (Gospel) of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him, were stamped with the seal of the long-promised Holy Spirit.  Amplified Bible (AMP)
On Friday we considered some of the things that we have "in Christ".  We'll continue that theme this weekend as we consider today's verse and passage which starts off by telling us that in Christ we have "redemption" and the forgiveness of our sins by the riches of His grace.  Today's verse tells us of the Word of Truth, the Gospel, God's Word of our salvation, and that His grace provides the means to believe in, adhere to and rely on Him.

Think for a moment to think of what it means to have His "seal' on you.  It is His identifying mark, in our hearts and minds, that is seen by others as the evidence of His grace in our lives.  This "identifying mark" can be seen as others see more of what we have "in Christ", the peace which passes understanding giving us the confidence of our eternal well being.

Continuing John Piper's list from Friday:

In Christ Jesus the peace of God will guard your heart and mind. Philippians 4:7, "The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

In Christ Jesus you have eternal life. Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

And in Christ Jesus you will be raised from the dead at the coming of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:22, "For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive." All those united to Adam in the first humanity die. All those united to Christ in the new humanity rise to live again.

In Christ,
Mike

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace  NIV
Ephesians 1:7-13  English Standard Version (ESV)
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
