Verse of the Day 8/10

Verse of the Day 8/10

Romans 10:9-10  because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  English Standard Version (ESV)

The other day we considered how God is the God of  the hills and valleys, that He is with us and will deliver us through the valleys.  Ultimately, He saves us.  Today's verses from Romans 10  were in the  read through  the  Bible  plan  that  I  am following.  The verses speak of confessing  and believing, the two  go  together.  It points  to more  than simply head knowledge or acknowledging some facts,  it is heart knowledge, it is  part  of who we are and in should come  out of us when we speak, when we engage with others.

We cannot save ourselves.  Jesus calls us and when we respond, believe and confess He will do what for us is impossible and lead us over those hills and valleys.  John Piper  writes,
"The resurrection of Jesus is God's declaration to Israel and to the world that we cannot work our way to glory but that he intends to do the impossible to get us there.
The resurrection is the promise of God that all who trust Jesus will be the beneficiaries of God's power to lead us in paths of righteousness and through the valley of death.
Therefore, believing in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead is much more than accepting a fact. It means being confident that God is for you, that he has closed ranks with you, that he is transforming your life, and that he will save you for eternal joy."

As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced."[b] 12 Jew and Gentile[c] are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."   Romans 10:11 New Living Translation
May we call on the Lord  to "close ranks" with us, transform  our lives and "Shine On Us" today.
Lord, let Your light
Light of Your face
Shine on us
Lord, let Your light
Light of Your face
Shine on us

That we may be saved
That we may have life
To find our way in the darkest night
Let Your light shine on us     (Shine On Us – Phillips, Craig &Dean)

Blessings,

Mike

Romans 10:8-13New Living Translation (NLT)

In fact, it says,
"The message is very close at hand;
it is on your lips and in your heart."[a]
And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced."[b] 12 Jew and Gentile[c] are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
