Verse of the Day 7/14

Verse of the Day 7/14

1 Peter 2:9-10?? But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God???s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you???from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.?????? The Message (MSG)

Over the last few days we have read in Psalm 1 that God has planted you in a place where you have access to the streams of living water.?? We also read of the "chaff" which is blown away.?? Today's passage (below) deals with those who believe and are obedient and those that reject Jesus as the Cornerstone and stumble because of it.

Paul and Silas were planted in jail.?? I'm sure that they would rather have been speaking to a congregation, but God planted them there and they took advantage of the opportunity that God gave them in that place where He had planted them.

If you are a Christ follower, you have been chosen, you have been planted for a purpose in the place where you are as God's instrument "to do his work and speak out for Him".?? It goes back again to being prepared to tell of the hope and the joy that you have where He has planted you, where He has chosen you to be.

  1. Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,
    Do not wait to shed your light afar;
    To the many duties ever near you now be true,
    Brighten the corner where you are.
  2. Just above are clouded skies that you may help to clear,
    Let not narrow self your way debar;
    Though into one heart alone may fall your song of cheer,
    Brighten the corner where you are.

Refrain:
Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!

1 Peter 2:6-10??New King James Version (NKJV)

6??Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,

???Behold, I lay in Zion
A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.???

7??Therefore, to you who believe,??He is??precious; but to those who??[a]are disobedient,

???The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,???

8??and

???A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.???

They stumble, being disobedient to the word,??to which they also were appointed.

9??But you??are??a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of??darkness into His marvelous light;??10??who once??were??not a people but??are??now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
