Verse of the Day 11/15

Verse of the Day 11/15

Hebrews 11:3   Faith empowers us to see that the universe was created and beautifully coordinated by the power of God's words! He spoke and the invisible realm gave birth to all that is seen.

The Passion Translation (TPT)

I mentioned yesterday that I read Hebrews 11 on the morning of our son Jeff's tragic car accident.  Through the years the passage has served as an anchor for my soul.  It encourages and challenges to be a see through-er and not a look at-er.  Every year as I approach the chapter in my read through the Bible plan, I wonder how the chapter will speak to me this time though.  In reading in The Passion Translation this year, the first words caught my attention, "faith empowers".   Faith is not passive, it is active.  Faith in God empowers us,enables us to persevere as those members of the "Hall of Faith" in this chapter.

We draw upon that power through faith as we read and apply His Word in our lives day by day.  That applying is acting in faith.  And if we desire to please God (see verse 6 below) this will be the everyday path to our life; to seek Him in His Word and in prayer and to act in faith upon what we hear.  We know that He will hear our prayers and give us strength for the day as we put passion and strength into seeking Him.

David Jeremiah writes, "Faith isn't just knowing something but doing something about it. The Lord speaks to us every day as we study His Word. Whenever God speaks to us, we must respond. If He tells us to stop worrying, that's what we do. If He tells us to tame our tempers, that's what we do. If He tells us to go to the ends of the earth with His message, we pack our bags. Christ is worthy of our faith, and faith always leads to obedience."

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God.[a] For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking him.   The Passion Translation (TPT)

Read the passage below and the whole chapter of Hebrews 11 over the next couple of days.  May the examples of faith in these pages and verses encourage and strengthen your faith.

Hebrews 11:1-6 New King James Version (NKJV)

By Faith We Understand

11 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

By faith we understand that the [c]worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Faith at the Dawn of History

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
