Verse of the Day 11/21

Verse of the Day 11/21

Hebrews 13:20-21
English Standard Version

20 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us[a] that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

As the book of Hebrews is coming to a close, the author writes a bendiction reminding his readers that God the Father who raised Jesus, has the power and authority to equip us with what we need to do what He has called us to do.

Think about that word "equip" and what it means to us.  A soldier is fitted with weapons and everything he needs to do battle against his enemy (Ephesians 6:10-18).  A carpenter is equipped with what he needs to build and construct things for use in life.  A mechanic is equipped with the tools necessary to keep a car going as it should, as it was designed to do.  So it is with us, whatever our role in the church He fits us, He equips us with what we'll need to do the job.  It begins with having His Word in front of us, in our hearts and in our minds, ready to be applied to whatever situation calls for it.

No matter what the profession, no matter what the task, if we take and apply what He has equipped us with it will please Him and we should be pleased ourselves in what He has accomplished in our lives.

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Blessings,
Mike
