Verse of the Day 11/8

Verse of the Day 11/8

Deuteronomy 6:4-5
English Standard Version

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Today's verses came up in my Old Testament reeading.  We've been considering not "drifting" and "abiding" and how the Word is "living and active".  Today's verses come from the Shema, which was read by devout Jews twice a day.  They served as a reminder of how we are to draw near to God and keep Him in the forefront of our minds.

We could all benefit from reading this passage regularly as reminders and also to hold up and see how we are adhering to these instructions.

As we read His Word and as we pray over it may it fall down like rain and speak to us.

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay

The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

[Chorus]
Word of God, speak; would You pour down like rain?
Washing my eyes to see Your majesty
To be still and know that You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest in Your holiness
Word of God, speak

[Verse 2]
I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet, hear Your voice.     (Word of God Speak - Mercy Me)

Blessings,
Mike

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
English Standard Version

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
