Verse of the Dayb 5/18

Verse of the Day 5/18

John 5:24-25
New King James Version

24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.

Today's verses came up in the read through the New Testament plan that I follow.  In reading them I was reminded of what Jesus would later say in John 11 regarding Lazarus that "this will not end in death".  Lazarus did die, but Jesus would show that He had the power over death by raising him back to life.  No matter what we face in life, we, as believers, can have the confidence that we too will be raised to life when we hear His call.

Jesus also states that we will not come into judgment, because we are His.  We have heard His voice and will hear it when He calls us home.  I'm reminded of Romans 8:1 where the Apostle Paul stated that "there.is therefore no condemnation" for those who are in Christ Jesus.

No matter what we face today or down the road we know that becasue He lives, we can face tomorrow knowing that our eternal future is secure in Jesus Christ.

God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died, to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives

CHORUS:
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

Blessings,
Mike

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.  NIV

John 5:19-29
New King James Version

19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. 22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Life and Judgment Are Through the Son

24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
