Verse of the Day 3/16

Through the Bible - Deuteronomy 32-33, Luke 1:1-38

Good morning,
The small group that Jean and I are in has been going through a series by Chip Ingram on Ephesians 6 and the full armor of God.  It was a familiar passage to all of us and probably to most of you, but as with most (if not all) of the Bible, we learn something from it every time we go through it.

For today's verses we'll go to 6:12-13 which points out that our battle is a spiritual battle.

Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.   NKJV

What tied these verses to the subject that we've been considering this past week is the statement towards the end of verse 13, "and having done all, stand."  We are to put on this spiritual armor, all of it.  It should mean regular time in prayer, Bible reading and study.  More importantly it involves putting it on, applying it in our lives.

When we fail or struggle with a test in school or a project at work or in some ministry how often times is it because we were not properly prepared?
The Bible is full of those who took their stand, Daniel, or Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego come to mind standing up to the king and now bowing to an idol as well as Elijah taking his  stand against the prophets of Baal.  Paul and others in the New Testament show us that the strength to take a stand came out of a life where the armor was put on every day.

What are you doing today to stand steadfast?

Isaiah 43:10 You are My witnesses, says the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know Me, believe Me and remain steadfast to Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me.

11I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior.  - Amplified Bible

Eph 6:10-21
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints —  19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.    NKJV
