Verse of the Day 10/13

Matthew 6:34  The Message (MSG)  "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

It is so easy to get caught up in what the day may bring.  So many thing vying for our attention, so many things to worry about.  All too often we get caught up in things and waste our time on things that don't really matter, that won't have a long term significance.  We hardly have any time left for God, let alone our best.

For some reason, as I read this verse in The Message paraphrase, the old hymn "Give of Your Best to the Master" came to my mind.  We may be in a time of need or a time of pain or a time of gain, whatever the situation, may God give us the strength to give our best to God in the situation and build upon what He is doing.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart;
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave;
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.

Give him your best, give him first place.  Be more pre- occupied with giving not getting.

  " Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. " Matthew 6:33 The Message

Matthew 6:33-34The Message (MSG)

 30-33"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

 34"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
